City Hall Closed July 4 In Observance of Independence
2008 Compost Schedule
The compost area located inside the Street Department grounds will open for the 2008 season starting the second Saturday of April from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Citizens may bring all composting items during these times and dump in the designated areas. Any tree trimmings larger than 2" in diameter or longer than 6' will not be accepted. All bagged leaves or trimmings shall be removed from the containers by the citizens and disposed of properly. The compost area will remain open every second and fourth Saturday at the above times up to but not including Thanksgiving Day weekend. The City of Higginsville Street Department sponsors this program. As long as this program is not abused by the public bringing trash or other unacceptable items it will continue as scheduled.
Special Note: This compost program is intended for the individual citizens only. No commercial trimmings will be accepted.
Family Fun & Fireworks Festivities July 6, 2008
This year's Family Fun & Fireworks Festivities will be held Sunday, July 6, starting at 6 p.m. Activities will include local talent, refreshments, Bike & Trike Parade, and 4-H Kiddie Games. The featured entertainment will be RikeR - Good Time Music. A huge Fireworks Display will take place at dusk with the Grand Finale Sponsored by Citizens Telephone & Citizens Long Distance.
